New healthy restaurant The Good Place opening in Miranda

An ethical, sustainable and healthy cafe, bar and restaurant created by an acclaimed Australian chef will open in Miranda Fair’s rooftop dining precinct this month.

An ethical, sustainable and healthy cafe, bar and restaurant created by an acclaimed Australian chef will open in Miranda Fair’s rooftop dining precinct this month.

Chef, author and health expert Scott Gooding will bring The Good Place to Westfield Miranda after setting up shop in Blacktown in Sydney’s west and in Surfers Paradise and Buddina in Queensland.

The Good Place website describes the restaurant as an exercise in “conscious dining with a relaxed, friendly and welcoming ambience”.

“Food is so much more than energy to enable us to move and think – it contains the codes to enable us to optimise and thrive,” Gooding wrote.

“The Good Place believes a diet rich in real food is the key to health and longevity.

“As such, we have developed a menu that is gluten free, low sugar, soy free, grain free and non GMO.”

Cafe mains include bubble and squeak with pork belly, Mexican chicken wings and a Kakadu smoothie bowl with coconut cream, MCT oil, peanut butter & Kakadu plum topped with blueberries and hemp oil.

Drink options include bulletproof coffee – a long black with butter instead of milk – and an Inca latte made from cacao and mushroom powder, cacao butter and milk.

At night when the bar opens options range from more traditional cocktails such as the Pink Flamingo – vodka, peach liqueur, lime juice and cranberry juice – to health-conscious options such as the Young Buck with vodka, lime and ginger kombucha.

You won’t have to choose between drinks and dessert with the Jaffa hot chocolate, which combines cacao, coconut cream and orange liqueur.

Gooding also said the “sovereignty of food” was key at The Good Place.

“We ensure the plants, proteins and fats we use are organic where possible and sustainably and ethically sourced,” he wrote.

“It’s our mission to funnel our ecological and environmental values into delicious, nourishing and comforting dishes.”
