A former NRL cheerleader and reality TV star has traded pompoms for prison greens after her life spiralled out of control due to significant drug addiction, a court has heard.

Beauty and the Geek star Jordan Finlayson, 28, pleaded guilty to supplying 87.7g of GBL and 23.2g of Xanax after police searched her car at Rosebery on November 11 last year, as well as possessing 0.8g of cannabis leaf hidden in a cigarette packet.

The former Cronulla Sharks cheerleader also pleaded guilty to possessing 7.1g of cannabis leaf and six Xanax tablets just two days later when police raided her Rosebery home.

Finlayson’s solicitor Mr Taylor told Downing Centre Local Court the former glamour model clearly had a substance abuse problem.

“I’m instructed her life has spiralled out of control in a significant way since January 2018 after the breakdown of a long-term relationship,” Mr Taylor told the court.

“Her attempts to rehabilitate herself have thus far failed.”

Deputy Chief Magistrate Michael Allen adjourned Finlayson’s sentence until August 20 for a sentencing assessment report, which will explore whether she is eligible for a residential rehabilitation program.

“She’s been addicted to GBL and she uses Xanax now too after being up for long periods of time to knock herself out, and smoked cannabis,” Mr Allen told the court.

“You’ve been battling significant drug addiction and it will be your hardest battle yet, but if you don’t, you will be spending long periods of time in custody, away from your family.”

Finlayson was supported in court by her parents and “geek” Julian Stevenson, the molecular geneticist who was partnered with her in the 2011 season of Beauty and the Geek.

Police first approached Finlayson in her car at Rosebery on November 16 last year due to prior indications she was involved with prohibited drugs.

“The accused has informed police she is a user of cannabis, cocaine and GHB,” agreed police facts stated.

“Police have asked the accused whether she had anything on her or in the car that she should not have, to which she had to pause for a few seconds and look around the car before answering no.”

However, Finlayson then conceded there was “weed” in the driver’s side door and a subsequent search uncovered the cannabis in a cigarette packet, two containers of Xanax in an electrical compartment and two plastic containers of GBL in her handbag.

“The accused stated ‘the weed and Xannies help me sleep’ and ‘I use g’.”

Two days later police obtained a search warrant and burst into Finlayson’s Rosebery apartment, where they found more cannabis on her couch and six Xanax tablets in her underwear drawer and make-up bag.

“Police found the accused asleep on her bed,” agreed police facts stated.

Police withdrew additional charges they laid the same day related to alleged mail fraud and identity theft.

“I want you to be serious about this,” Mr Allen told Finlayson, who appeared via the audiovisual link from Mary Wade Correctional Centre.

“Look where it’s gotten you — all people taking these substances are giving (money to) bikies who have this heinous business model, just making their pockets full of money and they are not there to assist you while you’re in custody.”

Finlayson, who appeared pale and sometimes emotional, has been in custody since a separate incident on June 14 in which she was arrested and charged with what her solicitor described as “more serious” drug offences.

Finlayson will face Central Local Court on those charges on August 6.
