A young man has been charged after he allegedly attempted to murder another man in a bloody attack at a suburban Sydney unit block.
At 4am on January 11 a 24-year-old man presented at St George Hospital in a critical condition after he was allegedly stabbed at a unit block on Bay St in Brighton Le Sands.
St George police began investigating the incident under Strike Force Alawai before they pounced on the alleged attacker yesterday.
Ali Evci, 23, briefly faced Parramatta Local Court in handcuffs from a processing cell in Surry Hills charged with wounding with intent to murder, indictable drug supply and dealing with the proceeds of crime.
He was arrested and charged at Burwood police station on Monday after police raided an apartment on Hill Rd in Wentworth Point and allegedly uncovered methylamphetamine, scales and cash.
Evci did not apply for bail and it was formally refused, and his case will be reviewed by the Department of Public Prosecutions before he faces Sutherland Local Court on June 2.
