A pair of tradie mates allegedly dealt cocaine out of their work van.
When police stopped the H&A Electrical and Communication Services van on Wolli Creek Rd, Alan Ian Marshall, 34, had a vacuum sealed bag of cocaine on his person.
His co-accused, business partner and owner of the Toyota Hiace van Harry Koupparis, 30, had allegedly stuffed 10 plastic bags of white powder in his underwear.
A big, bearded Marshall appeared on screen in his prison greens at Central Local Court last week.
The alleged Comanchero bikie entered guilty pleas to cocaine supply, testosterone possession and dealing with almost $40,000 in the proceeds of crime.
Koupparis, currently on bail, faces three drug supply charges including one commercial drug supply charge.
He has not yet entered a plea.
According to court documents, police saw Koupparis collect Marshall from his Brighton Le Sands home in his van and drive to an address in Kogarah on March 25 this year.
They met an unknown female at the address for a short time, police facts state.
They then allegedly drove to Koupparis’ granny flat through Gardiner Park and police followed them again as they left about 2.25pm and drove onto Wolli Creek Rd.
Police stopped the van a few minutes later and allegedly “observed both Marshall and Koupparis to move around quickly inside the vehicle”, police facts read.
Both men were removed from the van and searched.
On Koupparis, police allegedly found 5.98 grams of cocaine in his underwear.
On Marshall, police located a vacuum sealed plastic bag with a compressed white powder, amounting to 27.8 grams of cocaine.
The men were arrested at the scene.
On a search of Marshall’s Brighton Le Sands apartment, police found $36,500 hidden in various lockboxes and compartments in his bedroom wardrobe.
They found another $630 in a tin in the kitchen, suspected of being the proceeds of crime.
Police also discovered 53.9 grams of testosterone in syringes and glass vials, as well as 9.5 grams of Nandrolone, 9.4 grams of Trenbolone, 6.26 grams of Oxymetholone and 10.5 grams of Prasterone.
A charge of supplying a commercial quantity of cocaine has been withdrawn.
Police also searched Koupparis’ Arncliffe unit and he has been charged in relation to items seized there.
Koupparis, 29, was also charged with commercial cocaine supply after police allegedly found bags in his undies during the pair’s dramatic arrest.
He was granted bail in the Supreme Court as his barrister Ertunç Özen told the court Marshall held the only key to a safe full of cocaine allegedly found in Koupparis’ bedroom.
“The Crown case is that he was acting under the control of this person, (Alan) Marshall,” Mr Özen said.
“There is no indication he had any access to that safe and it appears as though Mr Marshall has gone to some care to make sure he was the only person that could access that safe.”
Koupparis’ matter was mentioned briefly in Central Local Court on Thursday and was adjourned to the same court on September 17.
Marshall will return to court on October 22.
