A Beverly Hills chef has admitted to possessing more than 6000 child abuse images and videos.

Tony Fong, 42, pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing child abuse material when he appeared in Sutherland Local Court on Tuesday.

Agreed facts tendered to court said in March last year, police investigators identified a mobile number and two email address linked to child abuse images before determining they belonged to Fong.

On October 12, police searched Fong’s Beverly Hills home but he was not present and multiple electronic storage devices and computers were seized.

Later that day, investigators arrived at Fong’s workplace, The Station Ltd, which provides free services for homeless people located on Erskine St, Sydney.

Fong was found inside before police seized further items including an iPhone, hard drive and tablet, the court documents said.

Fong provided access codes and passwords for each device.

An initial search was carried out with several images and videos meeting the definition of child abuse material, specifically real pre-pubescent children involved in sex acts.

The documents said the material was stored throughout various apps and folders on Fong’s devices.

On November 6, Fong went to Kogarah police station where he was arrested.

He participated in a police interview where he agreed the devices belonged to him but denied possessing child abuse material.

An extensive review of the devices was carried out with 6472 child abuse images and videos found.

The case was adjourned to December 5 for sentence in Sutherland Local Court.

Court documents said Fong lived with his wife and they were paying off a home loan, with Fong receiving a “large amount of money” from relatives in China along with $40,000 in wages.
