A Hurstville man has admitted to dragging his six-month pregnant wife across the floor in a volatile domestic violence attack captured on CCTV.
Tiger Daher, 24, pleaded guilty to common assault, intimidation and damaging property at Sutherland Local Court on Thursday.
Agreed facts tendered to the court said Daher arrived at his wife’s home, who he does not live with, in a Hurstville unit complex on January 29 this year.
Daher could not get into the locked glass entry door, so he kicked it three times, causing it to shatter before he could get inside.
The incident was captured on CCTV, and the damage was reported to the building manager hours later. It was estimated it would cost $500 to replace the glass.
The following day, police were notified of a domestic dispute at the woman’s address, and upon arrival, officers could not find her, the documents said.
Officers contacted the building manager, who said an argument had occurred in the common area out the front of the woman’s unit, near the elevator, before they viewed CCTV footage.
The couple were arguing while they left the unit and entered the elevator, and the woman was yelling loudly at Daher to go away.
Daher became angry, tensed his body and yelled, “I will f---king knock you out”, the documents said.
Daher moved his body towards the woman to scare her, and he raised his clenched fist and made a punching motion but did not connect with her body.
The woman tried to leave, but Daher grabbed her arm and pulled her back into the elevator, causing her to fall over.
They continued yelling at each other, with Daher standing over her.
Daher moved quickly towards her as if to punch her, causing the woman to flinch backwards in fear.
The woman got up and walked away but Daher followed, causing her to walk backwards and she fell to the ground.
Daher then grabbed hold of her by the arm and dragged her into the unit.
The woman struggled and kicked her legs out in an attempt to free herself, the documents said.
A short time later the woman left the unit and continued to argue with Daher but she eventually exited the complex via the fire escape.
Later that morning, police found Daher and the woman on Bond Street, Hurstville before he was arrested.
The couple denied any incident occurred and the woman did not want to provide police with a statement, claiming she was not injured.
An apprehended domestic violence order was put in place between the pair.
In court, Daher was due to defend the allegation at a hearing but pleaded guilty.
The court heard Daher was in custody from January 30 and granted bail on March 3. He will be sentenced next year.
