Man in hospital after Sutherland train station stabbing

Commuters have described seeing “bloody footprints” and a “trail of blood” through a southern Sydney suburb after a man was found at a train station with a stab wound to his leg.
NSW Police issued a statement confirming emergency services attended Sutherland train station around 2pm on Monday following reports an injured man had been located.
“Officers attached to Sutherland Shire Police Area Command were told a 41-year-old man was found on a platform with a stab wound to his leg,” a spokeswoman said.
“He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Sutherland Hospital in a stable condition.”
A crime scene has been established near the Cronulla line and police have begun inquiries into the incident.
Detectives, general duties police officers and crime scene investigators were on site into the afternoon.
Commuters who alighted the train at Sutherland reported being ordered by police in attendance to move away from the crime scene.
One commuter told the St George Shire Standard they had seen a “trail of blood” for a significant distance from the train station heading east from the station.
No Tuesday morning, a police spokesman said no one had been arrested nor charged over the incident.
The man was in stable condition at St George Hospital. He was discharged from hospital on Wednesday.
A police spokesperson said the incident was not being treated as suspicious.
