A police officer who said he was attacked while off-duty at Cronulla in the New Year has now himself been hit with an assault charge.
On January 30, the 38-year-old attached to a Southern Region Command reported being assaulted.
Following an investigation by the Professional Standards Command, he has now been charged with affray, assault and make false representation resulting in police investigation.
The officer’s employment status is being reviewed and he is due to appear at Sutherland Local Court on August 10.
