A young trainee chef has admitted to having nearly 6000 child abuse images and 85 videos stored on several devices in his bedroom.

Ruize Wang, 20, pleaded guilty to four counts of possessing child abuse material and possessing a prohibited weapon without a permit in Sutherland Local Court on Tuesday.

Agreed facts tendered to court said Wang lived with his mother in Beverly Hills and was studying at TAFE to become a chef.

Wang has intellectual disabilities, ADHD and autism, and came under notice of police after investigators received information about his activity, the documents said.

Detectives searched his Kingsgrove home on September 27 and seized several devices found in his bedroom.

While searching Wang’s desk, investigators found an Apple Mac Pro computer that had six videos and 573 images that constituted child abuse material which involved young male children in sex acts with adults and some had adult toys.

An Apple phone had 16 images and one video of child abuse material on it, which were shared in his iCloud account and were therefore also stored on an Apple iPad.

The children in the images were aged between three to 10.

An Apple Macbook Pro laptop had 314 photos and five videos of child abuse material with images of children aged under 12 year old.

Wang said the device was his, but claimed he had not used it in a long time.

Another mobile phone, which Wang told police he previously used, had two passcodes to access stored content and more than 5000 images and 74 videos of child abuse material were found on the device.

Police also found handcuffs in a black case in a desk located in Wang’s bedroom.

When questioned about the handcuffs, Wang told officers, “I just want to have fun”, adding he had purchased them from eBay when he was a teenager, unaware they were classified as a prohibited weapon.

Wang remains on bail and will be sentenced in March.
