A young southern Sydney real estate agent has been ordered off the road and given a stern warning to stay out of court after he was caught driving while suspended, following a string of traffic offences including driving with an illicit substance and speeding 45km over the limit.

Kirollos Mina, 24, fronted Sutherland Local Court on Tuesday where he was convicted for driving while suspended in Bexley on the afternoon of August 28.

Court documents state Mina, who works as a real estate agent for Raine and Horne in the Kingsgrove and Beverly Hills area, was caught driving midway through serving a licence suspension for speeding more than 45km above the speed limit on May 26.

Court documents state police pulled the Rockdale man over for mobile testing and ran licence checks on his Raine and Horne business card after he claimed to have left his wallet at home and did not have a digital licence.

The results revealed Mina had not only been suspended for the high-range speeding offence, but was also made fully aware of the consequences of his licence suspension at the time he was stopped and fined.

In court on Tuesday, Mina’s lawyer Robert Daoud submitted his client needed his licence to keep his job in the real estate industry despite conceding he had “not the best record”.

Mr Daoud said Mina knew he was now on a “tight leash” and “aware he would be dragged back to the court and the book well and truly thrown at him” if he erred again, the court heard.

But Magistrate Philip Stewart was not satisfied with claims Mina had not understood the gravity of his suspension and previous warnings.

Mr Stewart proceeded to read out Mina’s traffic record, which included the first of two offences for a drive illicit drug matter in October 2021, alongside a speeding matter in April 2024, negligent driving, using a mobile phone while driving, and driving without displaying P-plates on two separate occasions.

In handing down his sentence, Mr Stewart acknowledged Mina had been “relying on the generosity of others to do his work in real estate” and would be “less likely” to reoffend having completed a traffic offenders program.

He dismissed requests to let Mina off without a conviction in favour of a two-year community corrections order and recorded the charge on his criminal record, fining him $800 and disqualifying him from driving for a further six months.

Mina’s initial licence suspension was due to expire next month, however, he will now be off the road until May 2025.
