A Sydney woman was caught out with illicit drugs scattered among her beauty products when police raided her home over her fiance’s alleged criminal activity.
Organised Crime Squad detectives raided Jessie Dahdah’s Woolooware residence on February 19 following a nine-month investigation into alleged cocaine supply in Sydney’s south and southwest.
In July the Supreme Court heard Dahdah, 29, was then charged with 18 offences pertaining to allegations he supplied 17.5g of cocaine across 15 deals between January 15 and February 12.
However, officers conducting the raid found something scattered among his fiancee Rachel Dale’s beauty items which landed her in hot water right beside him.
Dale, 27, pleaded guilty to one count of prohibited drug possession at Sutherland Local Court after police found ecstasy in the couple’s bedroom at her mother’s Woolooware home.
“While searching the wardrobe of the room shared by Dale and Dahdah, police located a small resealable plastic bag containing six small white and blue capsules upon a shelf containing her beauty items,” agreed police facts state.
“Dale was asked what the items were … the accused responded ‘MDMA’, and when asked who it belonged to Dale advised ‘it’s both of ours’ and clarified it was purchased to use recreationally.”
Dale – who works as a risk manager for Commonwealth Bank – tearfully faced Magistrate Jayeann Carney for sentence on September 23.
“She works in risk management, so it’s a pity she did not apply her strategies to the risk of acquiring illicit drugs from a dealer,” Ms Carney said.
“She should not have been getting into the murky, dirty world of acquiring drugs – she’s a fully functioning, self-actualised human being, she knew what she was doing, and she doesn’t have the sympathy of the court – she brought about her own demise.”
Ms Carney sentenced Dale to a two-year conditional release order without conviction and ordered her to continue engaging with a drug addiction and recovery program.
“She’s ashamed of her actions, but it shouldn’t have been something a well-qualified, industrious, hardworking individual did,” Ms Carney said.
“The defendant, in acquiring these drugs, has bolstered the market for people who acquire and sell these drugs for people.”
Dahdah has been remanded in custody since his arrest in February and is yet to enter a plea to the charges against him.
His matter returns to Burwood Local Court for a committal mention on September 29.
Dahdah’s former roommate Shannon Hughes was also charged with allegedly supplying 1kg of cocaine during the same investigation and will also face Burwood Local Court for a committal mention on October 13.
