Paris Lincoln, Saddam Hamze charged after dramatic arrest in Rockdale

A man and woman have both been charged with a string of offences after they allegedly were involved in a police pursuit and stole a car.

Two people have been refused bail after they allegedly stole a car and were dramatically arrested at a south Sydney petrol station following their alleged involvement in a police pursuit last week.

Paris Lincoln and Saddam Hamze, both aged 32, appeared in Sutherland Local Court on Wednesday after they were charged overnight.

Police allege State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad officers located a stolen SUV at a service station on Frederick Street, Rockdale, about 2.45pm on Tuesday.

As police approached, Lincoln, who was the driver, allegedly reversed the car and collided with the front of a stationary police vehicle.

Lincoln and Hamze, who was the front seat passenger, allegedly assaulted officers and resisted arrest.

Footage acquired by 7News from the scene showed officers using batons to smash the windows of the car before the pair were pulled from the vehicle.

Lincoln can be heard screaming “leave him alone” while Hamze’s shirt is ripped while being thrown onto the ground.

During a search of the vehicle, police located and seized a number of items for forensic examination.

Police alleged the pair were involved in a pursuit in Merrylands on Wednesday last week.

Hamze was charged with 30 offences including police pursuit; six counts of drive motor vehicle during disqualification period; not keep left of oncoming vehicle; two counts goods in personal custody suspected being stolen; being carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner; assaulting a police officer; resisting arrest; two counts of larceny; four counts of drive conveyance taken without consent of owner; four counts of unlawfully possessing number plates; two counts of entering building/land with intent commit indictable offence; and five counts of using class A vehicle with unauthorised number plate affixed.

While Lincoln was charged with 16 offences including take and drive conveyance without consent of owner; three counts of goods in personal custody suspected being stolen; using an offensive weapon in company to prevent detention; driving while licence application refused; resisting arrest; using class A vehicle with unauthorised number plate affixed; two counts of larceny; three counts of be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner; two counts entering enclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse and unlawfully possessing thing resembles Australian driver’s licence.

In court Lincoln did not apply for bail and it was formally refused with the case adjourned to December 13.

Hamze did apply for bail but it was refused with his case adjourned to the same date.
