Australia's cocaine crisis

A beauty therapist and aspiring model has admitted supplying cocaine when she was arrested in her Audi outside Northies club in Cronulla.

Anastasija Radovic, 22, fronted Sutherland Local Court on Monday where she was due to defend allegations she had drugs in her car, but instead pleaded guilty to three offences.

Charges against the Gregory Hills woman for dealing with the proceeds of crime and supplying prohibited drugs were withdrawn and dismissed in court.

Amended agreed facts tendered to court said Radovic was a banker at the time she was arrested with her social media accounts indicating she worked at Commonwealth Bank of Australia.

She now appears to work as a beauty therapist at Nova Bar Beauty in Gregory Hills.

Radovic also claims to be “a Sydney based model interested in all sorts of modelling work”, it says online.

The court documents said police were patrolling the Cronulla area for drug dealing activity as it was a common location for dealers to arrange to sell their product through mobile phone text message and apps and then deliver the drugs to nightclubs on Friday and Saturday.

On July 11, 2020, police were watching Northies Hotel about 10.20pm when a black Audi A3, driven by Radovic, and with a female passenger, stopped near the popular venue.

Another woman who had walked from the direction of the nightclub pointed at the car before she got into the rear seat.

The car was then driven west along Nerang Road, then up Elouera Road and then onto Mitchell Road where it parked before the woman exited the car and started walking back towards the venue.

Police approached the car and found Radovic was driving and Bojana Mladenovic was her passenger.

The woman and car were searched and officers found a medium-sized coffee cup in the centre console holder with 5.93 grams of cannabis inside.

Another bag had 22 small clear resealable bags inside containing white powder believed to be cocaine.

Police later weighed and tested the drugs and it totalled 13.5 grams of cocaine.

Officers also found a mixture of tobacco and cannabis, along with a blister pack of Diazepam inside a sunglasses case in the side of the door.

Radovic was arrested for drug supply and provided her passcode for her mobile phone to police.

She was taken to Sutherland Police Station and charged with supplying between an indictable to commercial quantity, possessing prohibited drugs and possessing a prescribed restricted substance.

In the court documents, police alleged Radovic knowingly took part in the supply of cocaine by allowing her car to be used by Mladenovic.

Mladenovic was charged with supplying drugs related to the same incident and pleaded guilty before she was sentenced to an intensive correction order to be served in the community for nine months from July 12, last year.

She also had to perform 100 hours of unpaid community service work and not take drugs.

Radovic’s case was adjourned to August 10 for sentence.
