A man has been transported to hospital after he fell onto tracks at Penshurst Train Station on Friday morning.
About 9am paramedics were called to the railway station on Bridge Street where they assessed a man, believed to be in his late 40s.
Two paramedic road crews and a specialist medical team including a critical care doctor and a critical care paramedic were dispatched to the scene.
The man was trapped underneath a train after suffering a medical episode and falling onto the tracks.
He was released from under the train and treated for a significant laceration to his head.
NSW Ambulance Inspector Shane Whittaker said crews worked alongside Fire and Rescue crews to free the man trapped between the train and tracks.
“We were able to get the patient onto the platform for an assessment and treated him on the scene for quite a significant head wound,” he said.
“It is extremely unfortunate this [man] had suffered a medical episode in such a dangerous environment, however he is incredibly lucky to have walked away with only a laceration to the head as any incident involving a train has the potential to be life threatening.”
