A teen high school student and passionate performer has passed on a precious gift after she tragically died in a horror car and pedestrian crash in Sydney’s south.

The family of 15-year-old Kahlyn Howell confirmed her tragic death on social media after police say she was hit by a car at the intersection of Old Illawarra Rd and New Illawarra Rd in Menai.

Kahlyn was taken to Sydney Children’s Hospital in a critical condition, but her family said she succumbed to her injuries and was taken off life support just two days after her 15th birthday.

Kahlyn’s mother Kelly Howell and her older sister Ebony confirmed Kahlyn’s organs were donated and successfully transferred into five people who are now recovering well.

Her grandmother Karen Howell posted a touching tribute on Facebook confirming Kahlyn had given the gift of life in her tragic passing.

“In the true spirit of her kind and giving nature, she donated her organs so that other children can live,” Ms Howell wrote.

“Be at peace our darling girl.”

Kahlyn attended Endeavour Sports High School in Caringbah and was a keen performer, previously cheerleading with Shire Elite Cheerleading and dancing at K & V in Kirrawee and Joanne Williamson Dance Academy.

Kelly and Ebony said Kahlyn also played soccer for Kirrawee Kangaroos and netball for Jannali Netball Club.

They said Kahlyn had been in gifted and talented classes at school since she was in Year 5.

Ebony also made a tribute on Facebook.

“My little baby sister, you’re at peace now,” Ebony wrote.

“Say hello to granny for me, I love you forever and ever.”

The Menai community is now raising funds for Kahlyn’s funeral and a roadside memorial on GoFundMe.

Sutherland Shire police continue to investigate the incident.
