An award-winning Sydney real estate agent who violently attacked his partner in a terrifying rage has had his profile wiped from his former employer’s website.
On Wednesday the St George Shire Standard revealed Jonathan Eyles, 30, left his partner with brutal injuries after a savage drunken assault – then told police she was the aggressor.
Eyles was a highly respected realtor at prominent Sutherland Shire agency Highland Property. He won the company’s Culture Award in 2020 and was Rate My Agent’s 2021 Agent of the Year for Como, Jannali and Oyster Bay.
But soon after the story broke, his profile was removed from the Highland Property website.
The Caringbah man had not been active in a full time capacity as a real estate agent since July 2021 and is no longer employed by Highland Property.
By Thursday morning, Eyles had deactivated his personal Instagram account and removed most details – including those identifying him as a Highland Property agent – from his professional Instagram, though posts advertising properties as recently as August remained.
Eyles and his former team had sold six properties in Yowie Bay, Oyster Bay, Sutherland and Como collectively worth $10,137,000 in July 2021.
On Wednesday at Sutherland Local Court, Eyles pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm after attacking his fiancee and partner of five years at their Caringbah home on January 13.
Eyles called triple-0 for an ambulance after he alleged his partner had attacked him in a drunken rage.
Police found Eyles at their address with scratches on his face and his partner on the floor unconscious, and went as far as to take his partner into custody and impose an apprehended violence order for his protection from her.
But during questioning, Eyles’ partner opened up for the first time about the former real estate agent’s descent into physical violence against her over the past two years and police ultimately charged him instead.
“The victim said when Eyles drinks while being on his bipolar medication, he gets very ‘manic’ and aggressive, and the victim outlined to police that the accused physically assaulted her on multiple occasions through the night,” agreed police facts stated.
“The victim doesn’t remember the exact order these assaults occurred but she remembers being thrown onto the ground at one stage, being grabbed around the right arm at one stage and being grabbed by the face at one stage.”
Police facts state Eyles’ partner had bruises and a puncture wound on her arm, bruising and red marks around her face and neck, bruises to her right knee and a lump and pain to the back of her head after the assault.
“The victim said she has never told anyone about the accused assaulting her,” police facts state.
“Police obtained a statement which outlined that she consented to the (video) interview being used as her victim statement in court and she was prepared to give evidence in court.”
Eyles will be sentenced on March 16.
