An award-winning bodybuilder accused of rape has been hit with several new charges, including an alleged aggravated sexual assault causing an injury.
Detectives from St George Police Area Command first charged Hassan Osseili, 34, with sexual intercourse without consent in March 2021.
Documents tendered to Sutherland Local Court indicate police will allege Osseili had sex with a woman without her consent, and knew she was not giving consent when it allegedly occurred at the Airport Hotel in Arncliffe on March 20 last year.
At Downing Centre Local Court on May 5, court documents revealed Osseili has since been charged with an aggravated sexual assault causing actual bodily harm.
Osseili has also been charged with a second count of sexual intercourse without consent and six counts of intentionally recording intimate images without consent.
The matters were adjourned to May 26 ahead of their committal to the Sydney District Court.
Osseili is yet to enter pleas to the charges.
A police bail document related only to the first sexual intercourse without consent charge states “there is a likelihood of a full time custodial sentence (if convicted)” based on the seriousness of the allegations Osseili is facing.
The larger-than-life bodybuilder won Mr Australia and NSW at the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness competition in 2016.
On Instagram Osseili also says he has degrees in dietetics and biochemistry, and is an elite trainer, bodybuilding competition coach and sport nutritionist.
He posts frequent shirtless selfies to more than 121,000 followers, including one of him in front of a police car stating “had to take a photo with my friends”.
In January this year, the newest “make those bodies sing” Australian Bananas ad was hurriedly pulled after the St George Shire Standard identified Osseili as one of the actors featured in the commercial.
A section of the ad shows a man obtaining a banana from a vending machine, before turning and bumping directly into Osseili’s powerful pecs.
“Hort Innovation was not aware that Mr Osseili was involved in any criminal proceedings,” a spokeswoman said at the time.
“Mr Osseili has been removed from the campaign and Hort Innovation has zero tolerance of any form of violence or abuse.”
