An alleged bikie has been charged with trying to transport two handguns, $370,000 cash, ammunition and drugs on a commercial flight from Brisbane to Sydney.
Bradley Grishen Robertson, 41, of Dolls Point, allegedly checked in for his flight at Brisbane Airport on April 19 using a false name before security staff detected the firearms, cash, ammunition and 5g of methamphetamine in his luggage.
Police allege the man fled the airport on foot when security staff attempted to question him about the contents of his checked-in luggage.
The AFP-led National Anti-Gangs Squad started an investigation and identified a man alleged to have used the false identification.
Working with the Queensland Police and NSW Police, the AFP tracked the man, who is allegedly a patched member of the Hells Angels outlaw motorcycle gang, to a unit complex in the southeast Sydney suburb of Dolls Points.
After a multi-day manhunt, NSW Police Force’s Raptor Squad arrested the man on Wednesday afternoon at the complex.
Robertson did not appear via audiovisual link from custody when his case was briefly mentioned in Sutherland Local Court on Thursday.
Documents tendered to court said police will allege Robertson attempted to check into the flight with two dismantled Glock 9mm pistols, ammunition, a butane canister and two lighters.
Police allege the $370,000 cash was proceeds of crime.
Police will further allege Robertson used the false name Nikola Gorevski at Brisbane Airport.
He was charged with nine serious offences including four counts of delivering dangerous goods for placing on board an aircraft; two counts of crossing a state border for acquisition of a firearm; recklessly dealing with the proceeds of an indictable crime of more than $100,000; possessing a controlled drug and using false identification information at a constitutional airport.
He did not apply for bail and it was formally refused with the case adjourned to June 20 at Sydney Downing Centre Local Court.
