JACOB Casha has been a talented football star since he was five-years-old.

“In my first ever game, I had the ball and someone took my shoe off,’’ Jacob, 14, said. “I dribbled the rest in just a sock and scored. I just kept running.’’

Jacob’s love of the game was nurtured in the family backyard, long before he started to play for a club.

His talent was recognised before his 11th birthday, when he was scouted by two European football clubs, including Manchester City.

Both were interested in the young star’s skills and wanted to sign him up to their youth player groups.

However the time for an international move was not right for the family, who chose to stay in Australia.

But the teenage Junior Sports Star nominee has not deviated from his dream of wanting a career in football.

“I’ve always wanted to be a professional since I was a kid,” said Jacob, whose goals include playing for Australia and internationally.

“I would like to play in Europe but, for now, I’m just going to work to get into any professional club and work from there.

“I’m trying to balance it (football) out (with school) but, if I was asked, I’d probably choose football.’’

Jacob plays positions, including left and right wing, with the Western Sydney Wanderers under-15s.

Co-coach of the under-15 Wanderers, Andrew Keane, said Jacob always played with a high intensity and had the potential to make it to the A-League one day.

Jacob’s father Jason Casha said: “Ever since he was young, it has been his passion. His dedication and training has been outstanding. His hard work has paid off. We are really happy for him.’’

Jacob hopes to one day be a professional footballer.
