JUNIOR Sports Star nominee Lucas Rose, of the St Clair and Colyton Little Athletics centre, successfully defended his state 1kg discus title at the NSW All Schools Athletics Championships earlier this month.
A throwing specialist, Rose, 13, of Colyton entered three events: javelin, discus and shot put.
His winning discus thrown soared a massive 48.87m.
The teean also secured fourth place in both the 13 years boys’ 3kg shot put (14.42m) and 600g javelin (35.27m).
Rose has been dedicated to his athletics since he was a youngster and his father, Matt Rose, said he was confident the teen would “take it all the way”.
“He’s done pretty well,” Mr Rose said.
“He’s also a member of the senior athletics club at Nepean.
“His aspirations are to represent Australia in the world championships, the Commonwealth Games and the Olympic Games.”
The Junior Sports Star awards is in its 12th year and has recognised the talents of champions such as Dani Samuels and Jessica Fox.
