Sporting teams usually only have to beat one team to win a grand final.

But in the Sydney Juniors girls under 14s and under 16s competitions deciders on Sunday teams had to beat two.

One of the strangest grand finals scenarios was worked out to determine the champions of the 15-a-side girls competitions played out at Boronia Park after a season of numerous forfeits due to a variety of reasons.

One team could not field a side because it was made up of boarders who had returned home during the holidays. Others had their teams reduced due to other sporting conflicts.

But with organisers keen to crown champions and reward teams for their hard work during the season, the three-way grand final system was implemented.
