TANNA Bellear was just three years old when the burning desire to become a professional footballer first hit.
Now 11, the Bronte Public School student started playing for Queens Park FC as soon as he could — at age five.
“When I was little, I started watching my cousin Adam play and I got inspired,” he said.
“At the time I was too young to play for a club so I couldn’t wait to turn five so I can join a team.”
In the Easter school holidays Tanna took his passion to a new level, as he headed to Spain to play in the Mediterranean International Cup, with the Sydney Olympic FC under-12s.
Tanna said the trip was a real eye-opener.
“Our first game was against FC Barcelona. Although we lost, it was an incredible feeling playing against such a talented team,” he said.
His efforts are more remarkable, given he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes about six months ago, “but despite that he still does what he does,” said his father kali.
As a result his school nominated him for the junior Sports Star award.
One day, he wants to play centre midfield for FC Barcelona.
