The penultimate round of the Souths Juniors competition has set up an intriguing final weekend with everything to play for.

Here’s how round 13 panned out around the grounds.

ALEXANDRIA 42-6 SOUTH EASTERN

A sluggish start from the Rovers was overcome with a late first half blitz to see them score a big 42-6 win over South Eastern at Erskineville Oval.

The Seagulls had the perfect start to the contest, scoring with their first set of six after Tyrese Tuwairua-Brown sliced through the defence.

That would be their lone highlight as the Rovers raced in four tries before halftime, including a double to William ‘Buddha’ Last as they took a commanding 24-6 advantage.

Another four tries in the second half capped off their Old Boys day in style as they wrapped up the minor premiership.

COOGEE WOMBATS 22-22 MATRAVILLE

The Coogee Wombats and Matraville played out one of the most thrilling games of the regular season with a 22-all draw at Marcellin Fields.

With spots in the top three on the line, the pair were unable to be split after Jake Tobin helped tie things up in the second half.

It’s the last game of the season proper for the Wombats with a last round bye.

MARRICKVILLE 8-38 COOGEE DOLPHINS

The Dolphins locked down a top-three position after comfortably accounting for Marrickville 38-8 at Coogee Oval.

Coogee was in control from the outset to race in seven tries in a strong final tune-up before they have to face off with minor premiers Rovers in the final round this weekend.

FINALS RUN HOME

The Rovers have locked up top spot and both the Coogee Dolphins and Wombats have secured top-three finishes.

The final two spots in the elimination final will come down to the last two games.

If Mascot can account for Marrickville, it will secure its place in the finals. If they lose, they will be sweating on Matraville defeating South Eastern in order to advance.

The clash between the Tigers and Seagulls shapes as the most important of the weekend.

It will very likely be a case of the winner plays final football and the loser watches from the sidelines.

The only way both teams can advance is if South Eastern wins and Marrickville defeats Mascot.
