EMU PLAINS 62-18 COLYTON
After jumping out to an early lead, Emu Plains were nearly caught off guard by a resurgent Colyton. However, some timely advice from coach Jason Quinn sparked a strong response, and the side kicked clear with a convincing second half.
“We were honest with them at halftime.,” said Quinn after Emu retained fourth spot on the ladder with it’s seventh victory.
“I pretty much begged them to give me more effort, and it worked. We had a great start to the season then fell in a hole, but our second half today shows what the boys can do when they put in the effort.”
When asked who stood out, Quinn didn’t mince words, singling out a rising forward for special praise.

“Our halves are really strong, and Joe Zammit is an absolute workhorse at hooker,” he said. “But if I could have 13 of Jacob Harris I would.
“He’s a backrower who actually played in the middle. During the week I got a call from first grade coach Tom Romer, wanting him to come off the bench for his side later in the day.
“It’s well deserved, he’s been a standout for us this year. He’s not in any representative systems at the moment, but if someone doesn’t pick him up, they’re kidding themselves.”
JACOB HARRIS (EMU PLAINS)
Super busy in the middle, the rangy powerhouse ripped in with tough carries and didn’t shirk his duties in defence. Impressed the coach, and is definitely one to keep an eye on over the coming months.
JOE ZAMMIT (EMU PLAINS)
The No.9 was everywhere for Emu. In a complete performance, Joe called the shots around the ruck and left nothing to chance in defence.
KEES MULLER (EMU PLAINS)
Another in Quinn’s squad called up to play Don Feltis Cup later in the day, the fullback showed his class with a try either side of the interval.
RIVERSTONE 0-42 WINDSOR
JACK DICKINSON (WINDSOR)
Energetic with a sharp turn of speed, the backrower was a standout on the right edge. Did everything a full tilt, and charged into open space to score a cracking long range try.
HARRISON BULL (WINDSOR)
A well rounded showing from the Wolves half. Sliced through to open the scoring and made sure his outside backs received quality and timely ball.
ZEPH LEOTA (WINDSOR)
A challenge to halt with momentum under his belt, the big prop rolled into action from the get-go and finished with a couple of devastating line breaks.
ST MARYS 34-30 CAMBRIDGE PARK
COOPER FLOOD (ST MARYS)
In an epic contest between two genuine title contenders, the determined lock put Saints on the road to victory with the first two tries of the match.
BLAKE VAN DRIE (CAMBRIDGE PARK)
With his side trailing 24-0, the relentless lock forward picked up the pace in attack and defence and was one of the key reasons Cambo came back to lead 30-24.
CAINE JOHNSTONE (ST MARYS)
The winger scored a slashing runaway try down the left touchline before the break. Then with the game in the balance, scrambled to clean up a grounded pass before turning the ball back inside for a crucial four-pointer.
MINCHINBURY 6-38 ST CLAIR
CHAS RIDDLE (ST CLAIR)
Another dominant showing by the Comets No.1. Chas set up the first try with vision and skill and picked his moments in attack. Pushed up on one occasion before gapping the field to score from 60m out.
HAYDEN ELKRIS (ST CLAIR)
Committed as always, the powerful lock dominated in possession and often bent the line. Worked hard off the ball in a solid all-round performance.
LINO TAMASEU (MINCHINBURY)
It’s been a long time between tries for Minchinbury, and Lino was on hand to score a ripper. Steaming onto a well-weighted no-look pass, the centre dashed over to level the scores midway through the first half.
