PENRITH RL: TOP U19S ROUND EIGHT
CAMBRIDGE PARK 30-26 COLYTON
JONAH SOOALO-TAUPAU (CAMBRIDGE PARK)
A formidable force upfront, the barnstorming prop stepped up when his side needed it most, crunching out big metres with the game on the line after halftime.
NATHANIEL TOLU (CAMBRIDGE PARK)
A scheming hooker who timed his run to perfection. With the game in the balance, Nathaniel spotted a half chance and exploded out of dummy-half with a slashing solo effort to give his side a crucial 10-point buffer.
JOSEPH PARTCH (COLYTON)
Colyton finished on the wrong end of the scoreboard but Joseph couldn’t have done much more. Tough to contain at centre, he bobbed up on both sides of the park with tough carries.
ST MARYS 66-4 MINCHINBURY
JARED GREIG (ST MARYS)
Four tries just about says it all. The five-eighth had a day out on the left edge, scoring and setting up a swag of four-pointers.
CHARLES MANAPORI-REU (ST MARYS)
Another prominent on the score sheet. The halfback was easy to spot in his headgear, scoring a try and slotting eight conversions from all manner of angles.
DANNY JOHNSTONE (ST MARYS)
Busy in the middle, the tall backrower brought the energy in attack. Ran hard to get his side going, and showed good touch as a vital link man.
WINDSOR 48-12 ST CLAIR
SAMUEL SHERLOCK (WINDSOR)
Another electric performance from the dashing centre. Stationed on the left edge, Sam played an important role in three of Windsor’s opening four tries and was a significant contributor in Noah Denmeade’s hat-trick.
JACK DICKINSON (WINDSOR)
Jack showed impressive foot work to score his side’s second try, and the backrower was prominent all day on the right edge, challenging the defence with powerful carries.
COOPER HENDERSON (WINDSOR)
A tough proposition for the best defence, the long striding fullback was everywhere in another top class showing. Played his part in several tries and dashed across for one of his own.
RIVERSTONE 8-52 BROTHERS
JETT MOXLY (BROTHERS)
An imposing backrower, Jett set the standard from the get-go with the opening two tries of the game. Won the race to a grubber kick, then proved too strong from close range.
SAMUEL LEPOUALII (BROTHERS)
While his teammates dominated the scoreboard, it was Sam’s defence that was just as impressive. The hooker had every excuse to slacken off but showed great discipline, shutting down several raids with scrambling efforts.
TIPENE THOMPSON (RIVERSTONE)
Despite the lopsided scoreline, Tipene refused to throw in the towel. A constant menace with the ball, he created numerous scoring chances and beat three players to open the Razorbacks’ account.
