Penrith’s next generation of footy talent continues to spread their wings in the U19s Div-1 Don Feltis Cup.
Among a host of fleet-footed stars and human wrecking balls, see who made our list of top 12 performers.
COLYTON 58-18 RIVERSTONE
ELIJAH TAREKE (COLYTON)
The bustling backrower sent a clear message from the outset. After paving the way for Colyton’s first try, Elijah powered across for two of his own, then backed up to score his third after the break.
DEAN PARTCH (COLYTON)
Another measured performance from the classy No.9. Riding high behind a fearsome pack, Dean snuck over for a double and positioned his forwards around the ruck all game.
HAYDEN BROWN (COLYTON)
Hayden only knows one way – straight and hard. A mobile prop, the big man dominated post contact and was rewarded with two tries in another fine performance.
BROTHERS 10-20 CAMBRIDGE PARK
NATHANIEL TOLU (CAMBRIDGE PARK)
The rising hooker won’t forget this one in a hurry.
Called the shots from dummy-half and played a crucial part in all four of his team’s tries. A double cut-out pass to James Patolo set up the first, and was matched by a similar move on the opposite side of the field shortly after.
ZHAOQUIN-PANI TUPULUA (CAMBRIDGE PARK)
The punishing prop hit top gear from the opening whistle. Didn’t take a backwards step all day, and after halftime barged across to put Cambo in front.
JACOB BENTLEY (BROTHERS)
A real effort performance from the No.1. Played a role in his side’s opening try, defused attacking kicks all day and put his body on the line with a stunning try-saving tackle in the first half.
EMU PLAINS 38-12 MINCHINBURY
SPENCER KAVAPALU (EMU PLAINS)
At his best bouncing out of tackles, the rugged lock set the scene with a scarcely believable run in the initial exchanges. Worked hard in defence and ran a tough line to give Emu Plains an eight-point buffer early in the second half.
ASA VISESIO (EMU PLAINS)
The long striding centre joins a growing list of speedsters rising through the Emu grades. With Minchinbury edging to within four, Asa nailed his moment, sizzling through centrefield with a 60m solo effort that broke the game open.
TYRONE MOEROA (MINCHINBURY)
Prominent on the right edge, Tyrone used his height and long arms to good effort in the Jets’ first try. Attacked the short side, freeing his right-arm in traffic for the winger to score in the corner.
ST CLAIR 24-40 ST MARYS
ALEX FUTIALO (ST MARYS)
In a contest that included 12 tries, the towering bookend might not have got his name on the score sheet. But with minimal fuss, he stuck to his guns and rumbled forward with every opportunity.
BOSTON LAUVAO (ST MARYS)
Alongside winger Mark Yanga, the centre formed a lethal strike force on the right edge. Both scored doubles and Boston delivered the final pass for Mark’s first.
PAULA TAFEA (ST CLAIR)
Always in the thick of the action, Paula completed his fair share of tackles. Made sure he pushed up in attack, and crossed the stripe either side of halftime.
