Oceania athletics championships: NSW U18, U20 stars earmarked for success, full Australian team list

There are rising stars, brothers and sisters and a rugby league playing young gun heading to the Oceania championships in June. The teens from NSW earmarked for athletics success.

Sydney sprinters Aleksandra Stoilova, Gabriella Taylor, Sebastian Sultana and Rashid Kabba are on a fast-track to success after all making the cut for the Australian U18 team to race at the upcoming Oceania championships in Queensland.

The quartet have been named for the 100m racing with fellow U18 NSW athletes Emma Lee, Taylor and Sultana selected for 200m events.

Pymble’s Connor Bond has been chosen for 100m and 200m duties and relays in the U20 team with fellow NSW athlete Olivia Inkster cracking the 200m. The majority of their sprinting teammates hail form Queenslander.

Bond’s little sister Sienna has also made the U18 team for long jump and triple jump with his good mates Jasmin and Bella Guthrie also in the U20 Australian team for the Oceania titles and slated to race an assortment of events.

Australian and NSW junior decathlon champion Uchena Egbu, who stands 194cm and also plays football and basketball, has also been named.

The NSW guns are among 200 juniors named to represent Australia at the Oceania athletics championships.

Many will use the championships as vital racing ahead of the world U20 championships in Colombia including Mitchell Lightfoot and Haley Kitching.

The Oceania Championships are being held in Mackay, Queensland, from June 7-11.
