NSW Premier Cricket Rd 5, Kingsgrove T20 Rd 4: Players of the Week, ladder Sydney grade results, records

A Sydney batsman is turning heads after another strong displays in both the Belvidere Cup and Kingsgrove Sports T20 comp. NSW Premier Cricket news, results wrap.

Two teams have burst from the pack to lead the Kingsgrove Sports T20 Cup after four rounds of competition and one of them boasted a batsman who produced a standout performance over the weekend.

Sydney’s University’s Liam Robertson made it eight straight double figure scores this season - the only batsman in the top 25 scorers to do so.

His 39 and 67 on Saturday and Sunday took him to 5076 runs at 28.67.

This makes him the 281st player to score 5000 runs in the competition that stretches back to 1893.

Sydney University sits on top of the T20 ladder with three wins and a draw. Parramatta are second, also with three wins and a draw.

The leaders are followed by Western Suburbs and Northern District, who both have two wins one draw and one loss so far this season.

STARS, STANDOUTS OF KINGSGROVE CUP T20 ROUND FOUR

Scott Rodgie (Northern District), who started the season at number 40 on the all-time scoring list, has moved to 37th after his 43 on Sunday took him to 9284 runs, at 34.13.

This saw him push Victor Trumper down a spot to 38th.

Nick Bertus was the highest scorer of the round with 83.

Australian/British citizen and Manly Warringah gun Tom Lammonby impressed last week with 4-9 four off four overs.

On Sunday the English all-rounder and former under 19 international made 42 and took 2-27 for Manly in their win over UTS North Sydney.

In some over top batting displays, Daniel Solway made 70 for Bankstown, Tom Doyle 59 for Sutherland, Adam Semple 55 for Randwick Petersham, Tyran Liddiard 56 for Penrith and Dolphin Marcus Atallah 65 for Easts.

KINGSGROVE CUP T20 ROUND FOUR RESULTS

In round four of the Kingsgrove Sports T20 Cup Blacktown Mounties defeated Bankstown, Hawkesbury beat Fairfield Liverpool, Parramatta defeated Penrith, Sydney University defeated Campbelltown Camden, Western Suburbs beat Northern Districts, Eastern Suburbs fell to Sydney, UNSW beat Gordon, Randwick Petersham were defeated by Mosman, Sutherland beat St George and Manly Warringah beat UTS North Sydney.

Sydney University heads the Kingsgrove Sports T20 ladder from Parramatta, Western Suburbs, Northern Districts, Blacktown Mounties, Penrith, Bankstown, Hawkesbury, Campbelltown Camden and Fairfield Liverpool.

GORDON BATSMEN TAJ BRAR AND DYLAN HUNTER ACHIVE RARE FEAT

Just three weeks Taj Brar and Dylan Hunter scored their maiden centuries together for Gordon.

On Saturday, against Western Suburbs, the inform pair repeated the feat.

Delighted to have helped his side to the crucial win in the fifth round of NSW Premier Cricket, Gordon batsman Brar said he’s not able to put his finger on why his form has been so good.

“It’s pretty cool. A bit of deja vu,” said Brar, an exercise physiologist from Rouse Hill who came to the club from Blacktown last year after playing his junior cricket with Parramatta.

“I’m not sure why we’re doing so well together but it’s easy when he’s just smashing Sixers lucky does. “It makes it easy to play with.”

Brar put on 108 for the opening stand with Lachlan Barnsley (60) and adding 180 with Dylan Hunter (105*) for the unfinished 2nd wicket.

Brar believe a season together in first grade last season has given him the confidence needed for the performances he is producing.

“To be honest, the whole experience of playing for that year just helped me, having that whole year in first grade. I’ve never had that before,” he said.

“The faith they put in me has helped a lot.”

The 24-year-old said he has never been a part of any NSW Pathway programs but is open to any opportunity that cricket presents.

NSW PREMIER CRICKER RD 5 PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

In the same match, Western Suburbs captain Josh Clarke produced the highest score of the round with his excellent 126 not out.

It was Clarke’s 20th century in first grade cricket in one of the best matches of the weekend.

Joining Hunter, Brar and Clarke as players of the week was Robert Aitken playing in his 500th first grade match. While Aitken did not get to bat, he bowled 10 economical overs at zero for 32 and assisted in a run out. FULL STORY

Rising star Jack Attenborough from UNSW Only recently turned 20.

But his youth and in his experience is proving no barrier to success for the young gun.

On Saturday he scored his fourth first grade century with his 102.

He also has two additional centuries in Poidevin Gray Shield matches.

In the same match Hayden Maclean produced his second five wicket performance with his 5-31.

Sutherland gun Chris Williams scored 101* - He’s seventh century. This also took him past 6000 runs.

Easts player Marcus Atallah took 4-22 in the match against Blacktown.

UTS North Sydney’s Jack James took 3-25 in the match against St George.

NSW PREMIER CRICKET BELVIDERE CUP LADDER AFTER RD 5

The inform Northern Districts side produced another great performance to claim their fifth win of the season on Saturday.

The club heads the first grade Belvidere Cup ladder from Mosman, with four wins and a draw, St George and Eastern Suburbs with four wins and a loss each, Sydney, with three wins, one draw and one loss, and Manly Warringah, with three wins and two losses.

Outside the top six are UTS North Sydney, Gordon, Randwick, UNSW, Penrith, Sydney Uni, Western Suburbs, Bankstown, Sutherland, Fairfield Liverpool, Parramatta, Hawkesbury, Blacktown and Campbelltown Camden.
