It was the biggest win of the national U16 rugby championships and its most entertaining - for NSW Waratah fans at least.

In a major shot of confidence for the future of NSW rugby, the rising stars of the game produced a whopping 81-0 victory in the third round of the tournament against their Melbourne Rebels opposites on Sunday.

The win eclipsed the 51-10 scoreline between the Tahs and Brumbies just a week ago with the Tahs running out 13 try winners.

With NRL great and Origin coachBrad Fittler watching on as his son Zach came off the bench in the second half for his second try, Charlie Poynton, Alex Conti, Mitch Woods and Leo Jacques all scored two tries each in a match which has something for everyone.

“We are very lucky with the depth of talent we have,’’ said coach Paul Cividin.

“Our focus going in was to pull out our most complete performance. There were still patches and things to improve on but this was good.

“I think everyone had a great game - our focus was for all the boys to do their job.

“I think there were some boys showing how special they will be in the future.’’

Along with the try scorers, Cividin was impressed with captain Marshall Le Maitre, speedster Charlie Heidke, the Tahs set piece and defence.

The Waratahs held the upper hand from the start of the match-up, with Poynton scoring off a pass from Joe Walsh in the first two minutes.

Alex Conti converted then scored his second try of the season just minutes later with Mitch Woods going over for the Gen Blue teams’ third try in 11 minutes.

Randwick’s Ollie Aboud chipped in with another on the left hand side and Conti then scoring his second try of the game after the Tahs sent in a new front row.

Jacques screamed over for the Tahs sixth try of the first half to help deliver the hosts their whopping 36-0 lead at the break,

Jacques then cruised over for his second try of the game and Poynton his second conversion for a 67-0 jump.

Poynton danced his way to a second try - and conversion - with Daniel Meafou scoring the Tahs 13th try of the match.

Henry Siegmeier was a standout in the lineout, Conti converted four from eight and Poynton four from four.
