Balmain took control of the match played at Ashfield early to set up their 11-8 win over the Cronulla Sharks after their venue was changed from Dawn Fraser pool due to recent bad weather.

The Tigers took a 3-2 jump into the first break and then lead 6-3 at halftime and 8-4 heading into the final period.

“Any Sydney team we play is a high level of water polo and we need to bring it or we will lose,’’ said Balmain’s Jordon Kremers-Taylor.

“What was pleasing for me was that was the first game I have seen that we played at our best from the start.

“It traditionally takes a quarter of two to find our momentum. This game we felt in charge.’’

“There was no moment in the game we didn’t feel in control.’’

Balmain shared the scoring around with Mitch Robinson topscoring with three and Kremers-Taylor netting two.

WEEKEND PREVIEW OF LIVE STREAM MATCHES

After a few years of rebuilding, the Cronulla Sharks know exactly what has let them down in matches in the Australian Water Polo League this season.

Young gun Tristan Glanznig said he and his teammates are hoping to address the issue in a packed weekend of Australian Water Polo League matches being live streamed on News Corp websites.

“We have to win both games,’’ said Miranda player Glanznig ahead of the round.

“We’ve been training quite a lot recently but we are still trying to cash in on all that work.

“Our biggest problem is we have been rebuilding for the last two to three years.

“Our biggest struggle is the mental mindset of winning games. There’s a massive difference between losing by one and winning by one.

“We have to get used to finishing off. We have to learn how to win”

“It will be a really good weekend. We only won by one goal the last time we met so it will be pretty evenly matched,“ she said.

However we have lost a couple of our players to the Australian team in Sienna Hearn and our goalie Gen Longman.

“Some of the young girls will have to step up which is exciting.
