Brisbane Broncos fans have plenty of reason to cheer with their new signing Latrell Siegwalt after he steered Walgett Aboriginal Connection to a big 46-12 Koori Knockout win over Nanima Common Connection in Bathurst.
Starting at halfback in a star-studded side, Siegwalt controlled the show with two tries and an assist, including a piece of individual brilliance to slice through the defence and seal the result with a tick over 20 minutes to play.

NITV commentator Dean Widders said he hopes to see Siegwalt spend time in first grade this year with the Broncos.
“He’s played virtually every minute of every game and gone up against big boys running at him on an edge who defensively tested him,” Widders said on NITV.
“He’s come up with some great plays at the right times for his team.
“I’ve got to give it to Latrell. He’s clearly shown there’s ticker underneath his jersey and I hope the Broncos do some good work with him up there this year.
“To see him in the NRL would be fantastic.”
George Rose paid tribute to the efforts of the young players at WAC for rising to the challenge in a tough pool.
“I’m so proud of these boys, everyone stood up in the end,” George Rose told NITV.
“These young fellas put their hand up, did all the hard work and carried us through.”
The Penrith Panthers claimed their fourth-straight NRL title last night and it was retiring Panther Tyrone Peachey who gave Nanima the perfect start.
Inside the opening three minutes the five-eighth grubbered at the line and regathered to score.
Just four minutes later it was Siegwalt who sliced through the defence after getting out from dummy half, drawing the fullback and passing to Will Kennedy for the Sharks fullback to score.
It was Siegwalt again in the thick of things, skipping past two defenders and offloading while a third was on him to allow Troyden Dixon an easy passage to the line.
WAC’s lead grew to 10 through 18 minutes after they were able to find space out wide for Amaziah Murgha to touch down in the corner.
It was former Dally M Medal winner Ben Barba who grew that lead to 16 after he was able to step through multiple defenders and put WAC in an imposing position.
To make matters worse for NNC, star player Blake Ferguson went off late in the first half with a hamstring concern.
Nanima had chances early in the second half but the heat and a busy schedule took its toll as they began to tire, with Siegwalt’s second try of the afternoon putting an end to any hopes of a comeback.
Peachey brought up a double, but it mattered little as late tries to Dillon Walford and Dixon’s second stretched the margin right out.
