JUNIOR GRAND FINALS
UNDER 13 BOYS
La Perouse Panthers are 13s champions after they completed their brilliant weekend with a 26-10 win over Queanbeyan Kanberri Connections.
La Perouse raced out to a 12-0 advantage before the Queanbeyan side was able to get back to within two converted tries midway through the second half.
The southern Sydney side held strong however with a late try helping to seal the result.
UNDER 15 GIRLS
A comprehnensive display has lifted the Newcastle Yowies to the U15s girls title after a 26-4 win over Central West Maliyan.
The Yowies led from start to finish and were able to race in six tries to cap off their week as the dominant team.
Throughout their three games they conceded just one try with teams unable to crack their brick-wall defence.
UNDER 15 BOYS
Mindaribba Warriors were able to get the job done in a hard-fought 16-4 victory over the Narwan Eels.
The Warriors prided themselves on their defence throughout the week and it was on full display as they were able to deny the Eels, who came into the game off the back of a 30-0 win over Tamworth.
Mindaribba started well and was able to keep Narwan at bay.
UNDER 17 GIRLS
Waterloo and Mindaribba played out a golden point epic for the ages, with Cherokee Burnett proving the hero for the Storm.
The forward powered through five defenders and reached out to score a powerful try in extra time to cap a thrilling contest.
While it was Waterloo who struck first, Mindaribba was able to tie the scores up on the stroke of halftime thanks to a lovely sideline conversion from Milla Swain.
It was Tanesa Browning who broke the deadlock midway through the second half after a chip kick from Amirah Dargan took a right-hand turn to beat the defenders, with Browning gaining control in her fingertips and going over the score.
They didn’t have the lead for long, with Dior O’Davis barging her way over from dummy half to level it up at 10-all with three minutes to play, ultimately sending the game to golden point.
UNDER 17 BOYS
La Perouse made it two titles for the day after they were able to deny Bundjalung Baygals 22-0.
The Panthers got off to a blistering start with Bailey Roberts picking off a pass on his own 10m line and racing
Soon after it was Roberts again after some great lead-up work from Lochlin Moses and Dwayne Lyons were able to find the winger out wide close to the line to give them a 10-0 lead at halftime.
It was Roberts and Lyons in the thick of things again in the second half, with Roberts making a break down the wing and finding Lyons on his inside to score and seal the victory, with Lorima Cosgrove scoring soon after to tick the score over even further,
SEMI FINALS
MEN
Walgett Aboriginal Connection is looking to go back-to-back in the Koori Knockout after taking down the Blacktown Red Belly Warriors 22-12.
After defeating Boomerangs Sports Club in their final eight fixture, a hot start propelled WAC to victory.
They will face off with Nanima Common Connection after they were able to grind out a 24-2 win over Bourke.
The Warriors kicked a penalty goal to get the scoring underway but it was Nanima from that point on.
They surged strongly in the second half to race away for yet another big win.
The grand final is set for 3.15pm.
WOMEN
The Redfern All Blacks have a golden opportunity to go one better than last season after booking their grand final ticket.
After keeping WAC scoreless yesterday, RAB did the same to Cabbage Tree Island in recording a big 36-0 win.
Their opponent in the grand final is the Bourke Warriors after they proved too tough for Darkinjung Waters to the tune of 34-0.
The grand final will be played at 1.45pm.
