Junior Sports Star nominee Summar Richardson selected for Australian Futsal team

Junior Sports Star nominee Summar Richardson has been selected to represent Australia in Spain later this year.

St Clair resident Summar Richardson, 15, will represent Australia in Spain later this year.

When in comes to soccer, Junior Sports Star nominee Summar Richardson, of St Clair, has got what it takes.

Summar has played outdoor soccer since the under-6s and only started playing futsal in 2012.

While competing above her age bracket at the National Futsal Championships in January, Summar earned a place in the Australian futsal under-15 girls team, which will play their Barcelona counterparts in Spain in November.

The 15-year-old said she was ­enjoying all the exposure.

“It’s not so much nerve-racking as it is just experiences,” Summar said.

“Getting to go overseas doing the sport I love and getting to meet different coaches that could help me in the future.”

Her mother, Michelle Muller, said she was very proud of her daughter.

“She works really hard, trains really hard,” Ms Muller said.
