Cameron Edwards has taken a leading role in AFL this year, both in school sport and at the GWS Giants Academy.

Cameron, of Kenthurst, began playing AFL as an eight-year-old at AusKick and has dedicated himself to improving his skills ever since.

The Junior Sports Star nominee played football on Saturdays and AFL on Sundays until the age of 14, when he focused solely on AFL.

Cameron, who has played 150 games for Baulkham Hills Hawks and the East Coast Eagles, also excels in school sports.

He was the captain of the NSW Catholic Independent Schools U15 team this year at the NSW All Schools AFL Championships in Albury, and was selected to the NSW U15 All Schools AFL team.

The Oakhill College 15-year-old will compete with the NSW team at the national School Sports Australia Secondary AFL Championships in Queensland later this month.

After being selected to the Western Sydney Giants Development Squad in 2014 and 2015, Cameron was picked up for the U16 Academy this year.

Despite his love for rival AFL team the Sydney Swans, Cameron has been a dedicated member of the GWS Academy while also playing for the U17 team at the Eagles.

Cameron has always played above his age grade and this year was no exception.

The talented all-rounder also excels in rugby and cricket, scoring 107 for Rouse Hill Rams in the latter.
