Association cricket is thriving in Sydney’s west, but the ball continues to fly to all parts across the entire Sydney region.
Association cricket is thriving in Sydney’s west, but the ball continues to fly to all parts across the entire Sydney region.

As the Aussie side ramps up for another summer, park cricketers have been hitting it big on Sydney’s astro turf for the best part of two months.

From the seven grades in the Nepean District Cricket Association, to Sutherland in the south and Hornsby Ku-ring-gai in the north, we’ve compiled the stats of every batter to have scored at least one run this season in the only online database where the statistics (T20 excluded) of every senior weekend warrior have been ranked.

So with the numbers as at November 10, it’s time to start searching the 9,000+ names to identify the best. Using the table below, search by player name, association or club, and click on each heading title to sort the data by category.

For consistency across the board, alphanumeric grade names have been converted to numeric in order of rank. For example, Parramatta “A Grade” is 1, and so on through to “B14” which is referred to as 16.

BEST IN THE PARK

When it comes to runs, Dean Vandine is untouchable at the top. Padding up for Newtown Bluebags in the combined Canterbury/Western Suburbs association, the fourth grade opener has plundered 520 runs, more than 80 clear of Fairfield RSL’s Joel Rajakumar.

If there’s a threat to the title, look no further than Blacktown where Haro Singh has helped himself to two centuries from as many digs. In the top grade for SKLPS Simba, the opener has smashed an eye watering 246 runs.

Of the 9,233 names in the database only two have scored a double century, with 221 the highest going to Winston Hills fourth grader, Tyrone McBriarty.

Sixteen players have reached triple figures twice, while 45 centuries have been scored across all 14 grades at Blacktown.
