CHRIS Roussos will never say “no” to a game of cricket.

“It’s who I am,” he said.

The 10-year-old Mosman Whale is this week’s Junior Sports Star nominee.

Chris began playing cricket when he was three at the Ryde Hunters Hill Cricket Club.

Chris joined the Mosman Cricket Club in 2010.

He was the co-winner of the Clive Curll memorial trophy in 2011 for emerging juniors entering club competition.

Chris began competitive cricket when he was seven in the under-nines division.

He is in his third season of playing rep for the North Shore Junior Cricket Association.

A big achievement was in the 2015/16 rep grand final where he wicket kept for 40 overs and scored 22 runs off 21 balls, helping to secure victory and the Foster Shield for the North Shore team.

Chris enjoys snaring edges and making stumpings from spin bowlers.

“I love hitting the ball and I’ve also got good hand-eye coordination, so that helps with the wicketkeeping,” he said.

Chris plays his favourite sport five to six days a week.

“I’ve always been the youngest, but people respect that I’m a good player,” he said.

“I’ve stuck with cricket because it’s my passion and it’s fun.”

Chris aims to play Green Shield rep cricket, which is the highest junior level before men’s grade cricket, in future.

“I also want to get to play for NSW and Australia, in about 10 years,” he said.

“Cricket could be like a career.

“It will be hard and I’ll have to do a lot of work but I hope to get there one day.”

Rebel is the major sponsor of the Junior Sports Star awards.
