City v Country rugby 2022: Match schedule, squads, spots up for grabs at NSWJRU Bathurst event

It’s not just pride on the line at the City v Country NSW Junior Rugby Union tournament at Bathurst on July 31 - there’s team spots. Squads, match times, latest news.

The City v Country tournament has plenty on the line for players.

NSW Selectors and coaches will be monitoring matches across the day at the City v Country 2022 tournament with numerous squads still to be confirmed for an array of junior rugby events in the latter part of 2022.

In a massive day of action at Anne Ashwood Park, Bathurst, seven matches will be played across the day starting at 8:15am.

Both boys and girls teams will be competing with the event carrying various degrees of importance for the age groups with numerous squads to be confirmed in the wake of the July 31 tournament.

TEEN BUILDING CAREER ON AND OFF PITCH

“For our under 14s this is their first ever peak game of rugby,” NSWJRU Ben Gregory said.

“With the under 15s it’s their final selection before their Gen Blue teams are named.

“This is the pinnacle of the girls 15s game because as yet there is no NSW v Qld games as the pathway is still developing.

“For the under 16s it is the last game before two NSW teams are named for the Australian championships.

“And for the under 18 boys it is their last rep match as juniors.

“It’s a big day.”

Teams will also be playing for an assortment of historic trophies.

The Rugby Club foundation is again helping with first aid and referees costs with Bathurst regional council a big supporter of the day.

“They have been fabulous us bringing the event to the town and the Bathurst Bbulldogs club are the hosts at a great venue.’’

Junior rugby union has been played most weekends in the lead-up to the City v Country event.
