ROCKY Yates is looking forward to carving out a career as a professional baseballer.

Playing sport since he was two, the 10 year old, of St Clair, said he loved the game.

"My dad asked me if I wanted to play and I said yes – I gave it a try and liked it," he said.

After taking up T-ball at 4, Rocky eventually moved on to baseball and has played for Quakers Hill Pirates for the past three years.

Later this year he will head to Osaka, Japan to represent his club’s division 1 under-12 team.

His biggest achievement was making the finals earlier this year and despite his team’s loss, Rocky is sure they will win in the future. With US baseballer David Ortiz his biggest inspiration, Rocky hopes to emulate his on-field success.

"I would like to play professionally in the US," he said of his future ambition to play with the Colorado Rockies.

Rocky also enjoys going to watch the Sydney Blue Sox.

"I like watching the pitcher throw the ball and try and strike out the batter," he said.
