Tamera Bonanno pleads guilty, sister Amie set for trial

Two glamorous sisters and a man allegedly involved in a frightening home invasion in Sydney's south have entered pleas over the alleged incident.

Tamera Bonanno, 23, and Tyrone Baldwin-Cescente, 27, have each pleaded guilty to their part in the late-night home invasion last March, while co-accused Amie Bonanno, 31, has pleaded not guilty.

Older sister Amie appeared in the NSW District Court on Friday and entered not guilty pleas to two charges of aggravated break and enter and steal property in dwelling.

Police allege in court documents that Amie broke into a Pemberton St apartment in Botany alongside her co-accused and did intimidate a victim before stealing an iPhone X. Her trial will be held in July.

Younger sister Tamera pleaded guilty earlier this month to two charges including aggravated break and enter, while Baldwin-Cescente pleaded guilty last month to four charges including aggravated break and enter and destroy/damage property. They are both set to be sentenced in May.

The two sisters remain on bail while Baldwin-Cescente remains in custody.

A young woman accused of breaking into an apartment with her sister in Sydney’s south before the eldest sibling allegedly attacked a resident who had been sleeping has been released on bail.

Glamorous sisters Tamera, 22, and Amie Bonanno, 30, and co-accused Tyrone Baldwin-Cescente, 26, were all arrested over the alleged violent break and enter in Botany on Saturday, March 21.

Tamera has been in custody since but was back before the court on Thursday and applied for bail.

A magistrate granted her bail but warned her “the world has changed” during her 12-day stint in prison, and she must stay put inside her Matraville home.

The court also ordered a surety of $10,000 be deposited as part of her bail.

Police allege the trio broke into an apartment on Pemberton St in Botany during the early hours of March 21, while two occupants were sleeping inside, before older sister Amie assaulted one of the residents.

Police allege they also stole items from the home including a mobile phone.

Police will allege in court that the trio were found in a vehicle nearby and were all arrested.

However, police said a struggle ensued and two of the alleged offenders escaped.

That included Tamera and Baldwin-Cescente who were found at a home in Matraville a few hours later.

The three co-accused were taken to Mascot Police Station and, during a search of older sister Amie, police allegedly found a stolen mobile phone from the apartment.

The trio have been charged with aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence and escape police custody.

Older sister Amie was given bail in court the day after her arrest while younger sister Tamera and Baldwin-Cescente were both refused bail.

After spending 10 days behind bars, Tamera was back in Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday.

Magistrate Erin Kennedy took into consideration Tamera’s mental health problems, her relatively young age, and this being her first time in custody in granting her bail.

“The world has changed,” Magistrate Kennedy said, during the bail application.

“Everybody has to stay at home now.

“Everyone is going to get cabin fever. But I am giving you the opportunity to do it at home rather than in prison.”

Tamera’s bail conditions include to reside at a home in Matraville with her mum and not to leave the house unless she is accompanied by her mother.

Older sister Amie, from Botany, is facing a further charge of common assault after allegedly assaulting a woman inside the apartment.

Baldwin-Cescente, from Bondi Junction, remains in custody and is also facing a further charge of destroy/damage property as well as a string of other offences related to a separate incident.

The Bonanno sisters will be back in court in late May.
