Randwick Petersham Cricket stars David Warner and Daniel Bell-Drummond had a weekend to remember as first grade cruised to a first-innings victory over Gordon on Saturday, before the pair helped demolish UNSW the following day in the T20 competition.
Warner (73) and Bell-Drummond (88) steered the Randy Petes to 7/249 at the end of the first day, easily passing Gordon’s total of 154 after Adam Semple (3/27) dominated with the ball. The following day the pair made sure the side would make the Kingsgrove Sports T20 Cup finals as they combined for an unbeaten 155-run opening stand to win by 10 wickets — Bell-Drummond scored 77 from 41 balls while Warner scored 76 from 51.
Second grade are in trouble heading into day two after being bowled out for 175 despite another strong innings from Matt Calder (52), with Gordon 2/137 in reply at the close of
play at Petersham Oval.
Ben Montedoro (4/47 off 18) starred with the ball in thirds as they find themselves in a good position heading in to day two at 5/99 chasing Gordon’s score of 142, while fourth grade fought back well to bowl the Stags out for 275 at Coogee Oval on the back of a strong
display from spinner Pratulya Kashyap (6/60 off 15).
Fifth grade were dominated as Gordon declared at 8/300, while Metro Cup Green have
given themselves a chance of defending the small total of 124 by taking 2/28 late in the day
against Georges River at Snape Oval.
