Son of a Baker’s Botany HQ is the beloved bakery of choice for locals.
Son of a Baker understands the value of tradition and stripping back to a few good ingredients.
The name Son of a Baker derives exactly that – the fact that Urosevski is the proud son of a baker.
When he opened his first store in San Souci in 2017, he wanted to honour his father, who taught him how to bake.
Son of a Baker’s revered savoury burek with “flour, salt, water and a touch of coconut oil” pays homage to centuries-old traditions, as they say of their food philosophy.
All the ingredients for their popular butter croissants are made in house.
Owner Roman Urosevski has an eye for detail and a creative streak that sets him apart.
The “chic and seamless” boutique feel is no coincidence.
Urosevski draws inspiration from architecture and interiors, even running an art series where he painted croissants and created merchandise.
He said the Botany HQ store has a “tight knit community, which has supported us from the day we opened”.
He said especially through COVID-19 and coming out of it, “people stuck with us”.
