Two men have entered pleas over a multimillion dollar drug operation running out of Bondi Beach and Sydney’s west.
Josiah Burton, 34, and Edney McFarland, 31, were arrested in a carpark in Curlewis Street, Bondi Beach, and a search warrant was issued on a Bondi property where drug manufacturing equipment was found.
McFarland, of Fairfield West, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to taking part in the manufacture of 338g of the drug ice and aiding in the manufacture of a prohibited drug.
He has also pleaded guilty to importing a marketable quantity of cocaine at Granville early last year, and attempting to possess a marketable quantity of a border controlled drug at Paddington around the same time.
He will also be sentenced for attempting to import a commercial quantity of a border controlled drug at Wentworthville early last year.
Bellevue Hill man Burton pleaded guilty this week to the deemed supply of 61.8g ice, 650L of GBL and 1,675L of 1, 4 butanediol, which is similar to GBL and sometimes called liquid fantasy.
These deemed supplies each occurred in Bondi, according to court documents.
He pleaded not guilty to two counts of attempting to import a marketable quantity of border controlled drugs, the deemed supply of 50kg of GBL, 44.64g ice and 61.8g ice, as well as possessing fake IDs and bank cards and intending to commit fraud.
Numerous other charges were withdrawn for both men.
Investigations began into the two men after the Australian Border Force intercepted a package from the US, which contained cocaine.
McFarland will return to the Sydney District Court on May 28 and Burton will be arraigned in the Sydney District Court on May 21.
Both men remain in custody.
