There’s a new beachside club where dress codes are out and bare feet are in. The Coogee Beach Club relaunched last month after an impressive 10-week makeover.
The club’s acting chief executive Grant Imeson said the unveiling was a huge success, with all of the evening’s proceeds donated to the new Bayside Women’s Shelter. Nearly $3000 was netted for the charity.
The club is now open to one and all — just expect to see plenty of young beachgoers at the Dolphin St venue now that the old bowls club is gone.
In its place, the Randwick Club group has created an ideal Aussie local which has ditched the rules, including all its dress codes.
Inside, the club is bright and breezy, but outside is where the action is.
The greens are now dedicated to casual barefoot bowls and backyard cricket and one lane is even being converted into a beach volleyball court.
To top off the summer vibes, the Coogee Beach Club will be doing daily spit roasts alongside a range of cocktails.
Coogee Beach Club is a registered club.
Anyone living within a 5km radius has to be a member by law or signed in by a member.
Joining the club will cost you $5.50 a year but thereafter you’ll receive a 10 per cent discount on food and drinks.
