The father of a popular Maroubra fitness influencer has been charged after allegedly lashing out at a journalist outside court, following the sentencing of his daughter for drug supply.

Remo Cignetti, 60, was arrested and charged with common assault on Wednesday following his daughter, Arabella’s court appearance at Sydney Downing Centre where she was placed on an intensive correction order for supply prohibited drug.

Arabella faced Magistrate Derek Price after she was caught by police giving ‘coke’ to friends at a Karaoke Bar in Sydney in the early hours of July 30 last year.

After police reviewed CCTV footage, officers found Arabella with a large sandwich bag containing about 4 grams of cocaine.

When sentenced by Magistrate Price she was warned her next offence could land her in jail, having previously been charged with a similar drug offence.

Shortly after the sentence outside the court just before 12.10pm, Cignetti is alleged to have assaulted News Corp reporter Eliza Barr.

According to a NSW Police spokesperson, officers from Sydney City Police Area Command arrived at the scene and were told about a 29-year-old woman who was allegedly assaulted by Cignetti. Ms Barr was uninjured and did not require any treatment.

Police say Cignetti was arrested on Goulburn St a short time later and taken to Surry Hills police station where he was charged and issued with an interim AVO.

He will first appear at Downing Centre Local Court on January 18 in regards to the AVO application. He will then front the same court on February 23 in relation to the assault charge.

As part of the AVO, Cignetti must not assault, threaten, stalk, harass or intimidate Barr. He also must not intentionally or recklessly destroy or damage any property of hers and not harm an animal that belongs to her.

Cignetti must not approach Barr or contact her in any way, unless through a lawyer.
