A skateboarder has died after being struck by an SUV in the south of Sydney’s CBD, with investigators searching for witnesses to try and piece together the minutes leading up to the tragic fatality.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Raglan and Pitt streets at Waterloo shortly before 5pm on Sunday, and found a man suffering critical injuries.

Officers were told the man – believed to be aged in his 50s – had been skateboarding along Raglan Street and was struck by a SUV as it exited the Pitt Street roundabout.

The driver stopped and rendered assistance until paramedics arrived and transported the man to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital; however, he died a short time later.

An investigation is now underway by South Sydney Police.
