A disqualified driver, Christian Lage, has been refused bail in court after allegedly avoiding a random breath testing site in Botany before leading police on a car chase.
A disqualified driver has been refused bail in court after allegedly avoiding a random breath testing site in Botany before leading police on a car chase.
Christian Lage, 36, from Ingleburn, appeared at Waverley Local Court on Monday after being chased by police and arrested on Sunday.
Police were conducting random breath testing on Botany Rd, Botany about 8.30pm on Sunday when they directed a hatchback car to enter the testing site.
The vehicle allegedly failed to stop and sped past officers.
A police pursuit was started and the car was followed to Kemp Ave in Matraville where the driver, Mr Lage, stopped and allegedly fled on foot.
He was arrested nearby and a breath test returned negative.
He was taken to hospital for blood and urine testing before being taken to Maroubra Police Station and charged with a long list of offences including drive motor vehicle during disqualification period (second offence).
His other charges included fail to comply with request or signal to stop vehicle, police pursuit (not stop) drive recklessly, and drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous.
Police are continuing investigations into the incident.
Mr Lage was refused bail at Waverley Local Court yesterday and his matter will be mentioned at the same court on Wednesday, August 21.
