A 22-year-old man is recovering in hospital after his legs were crushed during a crash involving a bus and a car at Matraville on Sunday.
The crash happened shortly before 5.30pm at the intersection of Bumborah Point Rd and Botany Rd.
The crash involved a bus — which was not carrying any passengers — and a Holden Commodore.
A passenger in the Holden was trapped following the crash and had to be freed before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a serious condition.
He is currently recovering in hospital and is in a stable condition, as of noon on Monday.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman said the 22-year-old passenger’s legs were “crushed” in the crash and he suffered significant lower body injuries.
The driver of the Commodore, a 21-year-old man, was also injured and suffered lacerations to his face and hands.
However, his injuries were not life threatening and he was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition.
The driver of the bus, a 53-year-old man, was not injured in the crash.
Botany Rd was closed westbound following the serious collision. Police are continuing inquiries into the crash.
