More than 15,000 concert goers will descend onto a popular golf course in Little Bay next year as part of plan for a music festival.

The two-day music festival called The Coast Weekend is proposed to be held at The Coast Golf Club in April.

Under the proposal, which has been lodged with Randwick Council, a main stage will be erected on the fifth hole with views overlooking the ocean.

It has the potential to attract 10,000 concert goers on Saturday, April 4 and 7000 on Sunday, April 5 with the festival running from noon to 9pm on both days.

A number of holes are expected to be closed to members across the weekend.

The club in partnership with Canberra-based entertainment company Kicks Entertainment has put forward the proposal.

Randwick Council will make a decision in early 2020 about whether to approve the festival.

Members of The Coast Golf Club have been advised about the event.

In a newsletter sent to members, the club stated it had been investigating holding a music event as part of its strategic plan “to showcase the natural beauty of Little Bay and the unique setting that our club is fortunate to enjoy”.

“The intent is to run a small-scale, single-stage event that will appeal to two very different audiences,” the newsletter stated.

“Saturday being the 18 and over electronic music (think Triple J hottest 100) and Sunday being an open ages 80s and 90s iconic rock act and a format similar to A Day on the Green that works well in the Hunter Valley.”

A full line-up of artists will be released closer to the festival, if the council approves the application.

The Coast Weekend will include food and alcohol vendors as well as national and international artists.

Kicks Entertainment has a history of running music festivals such as Spilt Milk, which is held annually in Canberra and Ballarat.

Kicks Entertainment director Ryan Sabet said the Little Bay festival would be a “boutique event”.

“Little Bay itself is one of the most beautiful areas of Sydney and celebrating the space, great food and music is the goal,” he said.

“Kicks Entertainment and The Coast Golf Club identified a music event as a fantastic way to showcase the natural beauty of Little Bay and the unique setting of the club.”

He confirmed some holes on the course would be closed to golfers during the event.

An information session for club members and local residents will be held on Thursday, December 12 at 6pm at the club.
