Go girl, Jules Sebastian’s advise to new mums at Baby Wishlist launch
Eastern suburbs mum of two Jules Sebastian shares how she overcame being ‘chronically bad at feeling guilty’ with new mums at Amazon’s Baby Wishlist launch.
Amazon has teamed up with busy mum Jules Sebastian, Sydney-based TV presenter, stylist and wife of Voice Australia judge Guy Sebastian, to offer tips and guidance to new parents from bump to baby.
The eastern suburb’s mum of two boys Hudson, 7, and Archer, 5, who part of a panel of experts at the Amazon Australia Baby Wishlist launch at Woollahra on June 20, spoke of the guilt often associated with being a new parent.
“I was chronically bad at feeling guilty,” she said.
”You are a human existing in the world then all of a sudden you are a mother and you are responsible for someone else.
“It does take over your entire existence, but you are still the same person.
“You are working, you are really busy then all of a sudden you hit a brick wall because you can’t even go to the shop to get milk without it being a 45 minute exercise.
“You want to keep all the balls in the air but it can become and impossible task.”
Sebastian said a good work-life balance was a key for her.
“I work less now, I just do the things I can squeeze in around school drop-offs and sports but it is a constant learning process,” she said.
Her pearls of wisdom for new mum’s included not putting too much pressure on themselves, realising every baby is different and doing what feel right for them.
Sebastian, who joked she delivered her first son Kourtney Kardashian-style (using her hands to pull her baby out) has her own YouTube channel, JulesSebastianTV, that features Tea with Jules where she interviews inspiring people who are often mothers.
