A man who allegedly spat in the face of paramedics trying to help him in Sydney’s east has been granted bail in court.

Paramedics were called to a unit on Uralla Place, South Coogee on Tuesday night after concerns were raised for an intoxicated man’s safety.

Police said two paramedics treated the man, Nigel Frost-Foster, 56, at his home for cuts to his head before attempting to take him to hospital.

However, police allege Frost-Foster spat in the face of one of the male paramedics.

As they were leaving for safety reasons, police said the man allegedly followed the two paramedics and yelled at them, before spitting on the neck of the same paramedic and the back of the second male paramedic.

He also allegedly threatened to physically harm them.

He applied for bail in Waverley Local Court.

A short time later, police and two further paramedics arrived at the home.

While being assisted onto a stretcher, police allege the man spat at the two male paramedics, hitting them in the shoulder and face.

Police allege he also spat at a male police officer, hitting his torso.

The man was restrained before being taken under police guard to Prince of Wales Hospital.

After being discharged, he was taken to Maroubra Police Station and charged with a long list of offences.

He appeared at Waverley Local Court on Wednesday and successfully applied for bail.

Court documents revealed he has no prior criminal history and is currently on the disability pension “due to a disk depression”.

Magistrate Michael Crompton granted him bail with strict conditions including not to leave his home after 9pm each night and to abstain from alcohol and drugs.

Frost-Foster is facing seven charges including assault officer in execution of duty, not comply with noticed direction regarding spitting/cough (COVID-19), four counts of obstruct or hinder ambulance officer by act of violence, and stalk/intimidate with intent to cause fear of physical or mental harm.
